As a coach and mentor in the self-help industry, I would never categorize makeup tutorials as self-help. I think we’ve stretched the definition too far to include everything someone might learn from someone else — which is actually a tutorial.

Self-help, more aptly termed self-healing and self-awareness, is an ongoing, deep dive. Not just a surface fix, but getting down to the root of the problems, which as you so aptly stated, are both systemic and individual.

Any mentor who ignores and doesn’t use their platform to impact societal change, should be steered away from.
