As a person who occasionally does this, let me explain. First, highlighting in my opinion is giving you props for whatever phrase leapt out at me, I actually mean more respect by highlighting than claps. Second, Medium changed the rules by which the profit sharing happens based on read time and claps don’t matter any more, so why worry about it?
