Breaking Open from Within

The path to spiritual transcendence is not about floating along on golden clouds. Sure, there are moments of pure joy, but mostly, it’s an inner alchemical dismantling.

When everything you thought you knew, no longer holds weight. No longer makes sense. No longer has meaning.

You are breaking open from within. Questioning every tightly held belief, every habitual pattern. Emptying until you’re raw.

One of my mentors, Alan Seale, calls it ‘The Great Breaking Open.’ A tiny crack appears in your armor. With continuous pressure, it widens into a massive chasm. At the bottom is a deep shadow, within which lurks your darkest fears. That which threatens to consume you — but you don’t let it.

You peer down into the darkness, walk amongst the anxiety, depression, and ennui. However, it does not own you, because you’ve learned through time and experience, how to navigate this chasm.

You welcome the breaking open, which is rare. Most people prefer to stay on the surface than face their darkness. You are lighting the way because they are watching. Your journey into the chasm and your subsequent climb back out provides hope that they can do the same.

Just when you feel you can’t possibly take any more, you discover a reserve of resilience you never realized was possible. This happens…
