Embracing Disillusionment
Are you jaded and skeptical about the world?
There are times in each of our lives when something happens that shakes our very foundations. In my case, the passing, in a brief period of time, of three very special beings who meant the world to me.
My close friends are 15–20 years my senior (I’ve always been an old soul). Because of this, I was unprepared for their transition off the physical plane, I thought we still had many years to spend together.
I question, if time is so precious in our finite human lifespan, why do we spend so much of it worrying about and participating in useless activities? Why do we care so much what other people think about us? Why do we keep going to a job we hate, just to pay the bills?
Why is there one more shiny advertisement everywhere I look? Why are we so eager to consume? Why as a species, do we continue to focus on more money and more power? Why are billionaires jetting off to space while millions of people on Earth starve?
Isn’t it all a bit futile?
Aren’t we all going to pass away eventually?
Why don’t we make choices so everyone can live to the fullest?
