Except emotions are not bad or wrong, simply energy in motion. They come and they go. Nothing to fear, if you embrace your feelings.
This is the part of stoicism that’s toxic, especially since many men are turning to this as a lifeline and a confirmation that, yes, the myth you’ve been taught since childhood of stuffing down your emotions — it’s a good thing! See, some ancient Roman general said so, it must be true!
Real men and women honestly, openly and conscientiously express their emotions. They don’t pretend everything is alright when it’s not. They don’t try to have every movement of their day scripted, with no space for relaxation or down time.
Everyone just went through a collective and individual trauma, we still are in many ways. Please stop promoting this bullshit, it’s harmful…
