How to partner with your inner skeptic

As I prepare to lead a workshop on the power of manifestation, I reflect specifically on what I’ve been asking for in my life.

99% of me is all in. All in for greater health and vitality, all in for the expansion of my work in the world, to receive abundance in all forms, for my highest growth and potential, for a loving, healthy and reciprocal partner to share my life with.

However I’m curious, what’s that 1% that still seems to linger?

My inner skeptic, the tiny voice that worries, doubts and is fearful of stepping into the newness.

The first half of my life has been incredible, filled with adventures, wonderful people and so much growth. Along with some major struggles and a fair share of pain.

I truly believe it’s no longer necessary to embody the mentality of struggle, there really can be ease and flow and joy.

I’m not talking about perfection, but instead a kind of homeostasis, leveling off the peaks and valleys to walk on solid ground.

Time to exhale and release old, stuck energies within my mind, my heart and my body.

At least that’s what most of me believes.

One part though, whispers: that kind of life is just a fantasy, where would I be right now without the struggles that catalyzed my growth?

Isn’t that the way change always happens, when we’re up against the wall or down in the trenches?

Or have I gained the foresight to look ahead and be proactive?

Is it truly possible to lay down the weight I’ve been carrying and graciously receive what’s meant for me?

Or will that small disbelieving part always be present?

I could choose to be angry with my inner skeptic, but strangely, I am not. I honor its presence, I listen to its fears. I consider perhaps it has a role to play.

What if that’s the lesson? To let go of struggling against the part of ourselves that desperately wants to hold us back.

What if radical acceptance of all aspects of our nature is exactly where we find the peace and harmony we seek?

What if that’s the highest expression of manifestation — learning to trust every aspect of ourselves equally?

Experiencing wholeness in the beauty of our fragmentation.

So, are you listening to your inner skeptic? Not allowing yourself to be paralyzed by it, but simply acknowledging it’s normal to question if it’s possible to actually get the life we really want.

You can still move forward, even with an nagging, inner skeptic. It doesn’t make you weak or stuck, just human.

Try having an inner conversation that goes something like this:
Skeptic, I hear you and thank you for your perspective. I sense your hesitation and understand why you’re not sure. We’ve had some difficult experiences, it’s what we’ve known in the past.

We’ve never been here before, everything feels strange. Remember, we’ve stepped into new territory many times before and it always turns out better than expected. We can do this together. I invite you to open your mind and your heart. Give it a chance.

What if we could move away from pain and struggle in order to thrive?

How might life change and improve? What might be possible?

We want that opportunity. We deserve that chance.

Let’s do it together.

I am putting the finishing touches on a new, online course called Perceptive Souls Thriving, which will launch in January. I’m inviting 30 empaths and highly sensitive people to beta-test, to provide honest ‘feedforward’ for improvement in exchange for a reduced course fee.

If you are ready to thrive and enjoy being an early adopter, register at PerceptiveSouls.com.
