I agree that so much of the ads and blogs about entrepreneurship make it sound rosy and effortless. It’s not, speaking as a business own five years in. I worked for corporations for 25 years because of the steady paycheck, until age 43, when I decide to give it a shot. It took me 2.5 years working a day job and my business to build enough momentum to support myself full time, some businesses it could take four years to be profitable. And, I’m not trying to be the next tech giant, just running a modest mentoring and writing business. It is not for those who dislike risk (which is fine). The part though about being able to work on your own schedule from anywhere, is actually the bomb. I’m happier every day than I have been my while working life, because now I get to do meaningful things foe the best boss (me).
