I agree, there’s a difference between the people who live in a country, their daily activities, motivations and desires - and the leadership of that country’s motivations. Of course, we could say the same thing about the USA, individuals here are similar to individuals in China- raising kids, focusing on their career, etc. while our own government clearly had the agenda for a long time to be #1 and dominant in the world. When leaders across the planet stop trying to dominate and begin working together, now we’ve got something!
