I appreciate and honor your opinion. I would love to see if you our country and really the whole world disentangle ourselves from a hyper-focus on money, which is very unhealthy and leads to exploitation of workers and our natural resources. Capitalism has led to so many inequalities in our world, the gap between the wealthy and the poor keeps expanding. I would love to see our government take a portion of our annual taxes and issue every household a minimum amount of universal basic income, which would provide a safety net for everyone to get their basic needs met. It became clear during the pandemic that we did not have that social safety net, but my personal belief is no one should have to ‘earn’ shelter, food, clean water, the basics. We are all worthy of those things, just because we exist.

Each person could then decide how much more of a lifestyle and luxuries they wish to have and pursue that, or a career/passion they truly love without having to constantly be under financial stress.

We would all be a lot healthier and we have plenty of resources to do so, provided some people stop being selfish, only caring about their own desires, while they drive in their Cadillac SUV by a homeless family living under a bridge - something I saw nearly every day in my neighborhood. I’m all for individualism, but we all have a responsibility to the collective as well.
