I can relate to so much of this, particularly that both of my parents seems to live vicariously through my achievements. At one point in my 20s, I flunked out of college, just stopped going. Worked full-time for ten years before completing my degree. Looking back, I can see that I was giving the middle finger to everyone who wanted me to be a ‘superstar’. Now, I only pursue projects, jobs, relationships because they are healthy for me and aligned with my values, not because of a need to people-please…
