I have no idea where my life is going, how ‘bout you?

For several decades, I labored under the impression I could completely plan out my life. If I just set goals and worked towards them, I could have it all. Find the love of my life, get a college degree, generate abundance, buy a home and travel the world. I knew exactly how it was going to turn out.

What a shock to discover almost nothing went as planned.

It didn’t happen on the timeline I’d laid out, but instead followed its own course, unfolding years or even decades later.

I eventually found the love of my life (at age 48) after a series of codependent and dysfunctional relationships. They were both painful and very illuminating. Through that long journey, I found and fell in love with myself. Which is the primary relationship we’ve all been looking for.

I graduated from college, albeit on an 11-year plan. Flunking out of college in my early twenties led me to an amazing career opportunity, as the Vice President of a 50 year old non profit organization. I had the honor of mentoring hundreds of girls and young women. And I went back to college a decade later and finished my degree, boosting my confidence.

I received great abundance some years and other years barely scraped by. The lean years taught me humility and gratitude, they helped me release the fear of survival and move into a thriving mentality, regardless of the size of my bank account.
