I would venture to guess on the Myers-Briggs temperament assessment you would come out as a high Perceiver, a person that takes life as it comes. Some people are higher on the Judger factor, people who need more information in advance of taking action. There is no better or worse style, just different and it is true that differences in temperament style can lead to conflict.

I fall in the middle ground, I like to have a basic plan, but then often wing the details as I go.

To be clear, planning is not the same as procrastination, which is the fear of starting something either because you worry you don’t have the skills, you will do it wrong or fail. Which in itself can become paralyzing for some people, but actually everyone suffers from procrastination from time to time.

Some planning is essential, especially with a complex project or when the number of people increase, the likelihood of misunderstandings or conflict rises and that can be mitigated quite well through a short planning session to be certain everyone is on the same page.

Judgers can learn how to be more flexible and roll with it, however Perceivers can also learn how to more patient and contemplative before just taking a leap…
