If there were no obstacles, what would you truly desire?

It’s an interesting question, which at first seems to speak to core desires, things most humans long for: love of Self, love from Others, a sense of belonging, good health, abundance, a positive future, and meaningful work that contributes to the betterment of the whole.

But this inquiry is also like the infamous metaphor of one hand clapping — because how could there ever be NO obstacles?

Life is a series of obstacles.

It’s also a series of realizations, accomplishments, and triumphs, but bumps in the road are always right around the corner.

Whether it’s a health scare, a change in one of our primary relationships, or unexpected societal happenings, humans navigate 3-D walking the edge of uncertainty. This especially impacts highly sensitive people, whose nervous systems are more reactive to our environment. We work overtime to return to the center of calm amid storms that seem to keep on coming, one after the other.

I like this question, though.

It has intrinsic value.
