What's not taken into consideration in this conversation is how we are indoctrinated by everything around us, including other women from such a young age. When the 'norm' is to be clean shaven, how much confidence does it take to go against the status quo? No, I don't think the poster was blaming everything on capitalism or patriarchy, but when there's intense pressure all around you to conform, it's challenging to even know you can decide for yourself. By the way, men have been controlling and legislating women's bodies for centuries, so yes, patriarchy has a definite responsibility for women's insecurities...
