It's a nice story you weave, but factually incorrect. Hamas, when it was originally founded, was given weapons and financial aid by the Israeli govt, who thought they could conveniently use this new faction to un-throne the Palestinian Liberation Organization - because Israel has never been about Palestinian sovereignty and freedom.
Just look at the Nakbah, where 700,000 Palestinians were forced off their land, many were massacred. There are countless instances of Israeli violence towards Palestinians, the illegal occupation of their land, withholding food and water and medical supplies, one of the tenets of genocide.
This has been since 1948, plain and simple, white European settler colonialism, funded and abetted by the UK and the US, who both did the same horrific things across the world. Look at the Trail of Tears in the US, the mass graves of indigenous students in Canada.
Western countries have been operating this way for centuries, pursuing foreign policies of domination and eradication of those standing in their way of oil or beachfront developments. I recently saw a protest in NYC were Jewish people were auctioning off parts of Gaza, as if it was their own. Despicable.
Once Hamas realized they were never going to be recognized by Israel as a legitimate govt (which they were voted in by their people who were so desperate for change), and Israel never intended on stopping its land grab and violence against them. Israel by their actions for 7 decades created Hamas as freedom fighters, which is protected by international law. Those who are occupied have the right to defend themselves against the occupier.
Just as you or I would if someone came in the middle of the night and tried to force us out of our homes, shoot our family members, make us watch as Jewish Americans and Europeans move in like they are entitled to have everything, while others starve. The history cannot be denied.
