I’ve walked a long road with the concept of sin, guilt, and the idea that I’m imperfect or not as perfect as God. For me, none of this type of teaching feels healthy to choose as a belief anymore. Engaging in comparison, walking around feeling guilty because I ‘sinned’ I believe is self-abuse. I don’t need any more of that, having a very strong inner critic and inner perfectionist already. It’s one of the reasons, although I had a good experience with Christianity as a child, that I no longer associate with most modern Christian teachings. The other is that many churches preach that Christianity is the ‘truth’ for everyone, which negates countless other spiritual teachings that have arisen this planet.
