Just because someone is highly intelligent or educated, doesn’t necessarily mean they will make good decisions for the ‘common man’, whatever that means.

History has shown that the most educated, which usually means they are also the most wealthy, don’t make the best decisions for people who are less educated and who have less resources. Take our founding fathers for example and the plethora of wealthy, white men who have been in power forever the majority of our country’s history.

They tend to vote to provide for those like them (wealthy and corporate donors) often at the expense of the majority of Americans. This same unfair system repeats at universities. Wealthy donors, wealthy students and athletes who bring in the revenue get preference over a black single mom, working while trying to get her degree.

Intellectual snobbery is not what’s required here.

Our representatives are exactly that, representatives. They are not supposed to be there to push their own agenda, but to represent all of the constituents of their state.
