Not everyone questions the status quo
And that’s just fine
I’ve been a questioner since the moment I could talk.
Why? How come?
I don’t care how it’s always been, I want to do it my way!
Because I said so, never flew with me — just ask my mother.
Being a questioner of the status quo has, like anything, its upsides and its downsides. Being curious and willing to ask what if, has led me to some great conversations and amazing opportunities.
It’s also created distance between myself and others when I questioned simply to be a rebel without a cause. Ego much?
Being an outlier, someone who frequently walks the edge of what’s considered ‘normal’ has led to my deepest personal and spiritual growth. I’ve practiced releasing attachment to approval and criticism (definitely still a work in progress). I’ve challenged myself to try things that seemed impossible at the time.
This drive to be a part of the leading edge has helped me release the feeling of being misunderstood or like I don’t belong — one of our deepest instinctual fears.
Truth be told, I’ve also been pretty judgmental of those who don’t walk the edge. Who prefer to stay in what I consider ‘the safety zone’.
