Perhaps consider by Osaka using her more privileged platform, she is setting the tone for all types of scenarios where people with depression can hold healthy boundaries about what the support they need. Someone has to speak up and her position in the spotlight gives her the opportunity to be an advocate. We are seeing this more and more often, push back against unhealthy and unreasonable expectations for workers in every profession. I’m glad she stood her ground, employers have no choice now but be on the hot seat by their workers, who are across the board stating - no more!
And just because Serena stuck it through those press conferences, doesn’t mean she should have. Doesn’t mean the questions reporters asked her weren’t inappropriate, disrespectful or wounding.
