Perhaps one of the underlying reasons for this radicalization, in many parts of society, is our worship of money and fame. Anything else less than rich and famous (with a ‘hot’ girlfriend or wife) means you’re a loser. In the side hustle space, there is immense pressure to make it big, create the next Facebook or Tesla.

Both genders, but especially men, have perpetuated this unrealistic and unattainable goal, chasing the almighty dollar. It’s everywhere in our society, from the constant urging, even in Medium articles, to compete against each other at work, flash your status in your neighborhood or friend group. Make 7 figures is the promise of every FB ad that comes across my feed.

I think some men are rebelling against the idea of having it all, some women are too. A percentage of those rejecting this idea become radicalized, egged on by those in power to blame the other gender or POC for their lack of opportunity and sense of unworthiness. They are creating artificial scarcity and spreading fear. If you’re not ‘somebody’ then you’re a nobody. Don’t let someone take what is yours. Caveman much?

We’re all responsible for creating our modern culture, why are we surprised when it turns out this way?

Why aren’t we widely promoting healthy relationships, collaboration, empathy, emotional intelligence and helping everyone rise?

Because traditionally, those have been considered the realm of the feminine, which has been devalued and actively suppressed by those who identify as masculine. These qualities are considered weak, yet now we understand they are the most crucial aspects to ensure a positive future for humanity.

For so many men (and some women), it’s all about selfishness. Me, me, me.

Garbage in, garbage out…
