Thank you for this article, as a spiritual leader, it invited me to think more deeply about a belief I've held for some time - that empaths (who are currently a very small percentage of the human population estimated at 5-10%) might be the forerunners to eventually all humans being able to perceive the world this way. Of course, we have very little scientific evidence as to why certain people are more sensitive to their environment, are able to sense other people's emotions and notice shifts in energy. In sitting with my own motivations, it's not a desire to be 'elite', because I actively talk about not creating an us vs. them mentality (highly sensitive vs. less sensitive). And, I wouldn't advocate for anyone to modify DNA to produce more sensitive people. Plus, I want this level of awareness for everyone, not just for a minority. But, I could see how ideas like this, cross the line into actual damage to other human beings. You've given me something really important to consider, look forward to your next editions....
