The characteristics that have been traditionally thought of as masculine are simply social constructs. If men throughout human history had always been taught to be compassionate, show emotions, then that would be the norm. Humans are humans. Everyone has emotions, everyone can be strong, everyone can also be compassionate. All humans can learn how to communicate kindly and effectively. No one really wants to be 'hard' or 'cold' or 'war-like', it's a lot of work to keep up those pretences
