The specific things you mention that need to change in the U.S. are spot on. However, even with daily hard work, advocacy, donations, elections and protesting, most of the things on the list will not shift completely in our lifetimes - as a species we are too fractured right now for it to happen as quickly as it needs to. We need to keep working on it regardless along with spending time with our families and our individual sacred work, but I can see why people of all colors might feel like it’s hopeless and want to run away, both immigrants from other countries who can’t change the system they live in and those in America who despair of ever doing the same. The system is so large and it grinds up everyone who attempts to make changes. We have to acknowledge why there is apathy, not because all people suck and don’t care, but because just like systemic racism, systemic change is difficult (not impossible) to gain momentum on.
