This is especially true for me with Christianity, which is a spiritual tradition many white people are indoctrinated into. It’s become a big business and influential political arm in the US, instead of being a soul-centered support system for local communities as intended. Years ago, I told one of my colleagues who is Puerto Rican, that I felt whites have no culture, except American capitalism. Lately, I’ve been trying to connect with my Irish and Dutch roots, to learn more about where my people came from and who they were. I realize it’s a privilege that I can trace my ancestors back 13 generations, when many BIPOC cannot, because of slavery, colonization and erasure
