This resonates with me, as I had an ancestor who went through the tracing process to be admitted into DAR. They invited me to do the same, and yet when I researched the organization, I found out about their racist history. While it felt great to read about many of my ancestors, up to 17 generations back, I recognize the reality of document privilege, especially as I’ve been helping my partner trace his roots in Mexico, some of which appear to be indigenous, but a lot of missing information.
