I’ve read the articles about soulmates and twin flames, lots of them. For many years, I wondered if I would ever find my other half, the one who would complete me. We would gaze longingly into each other’s eyes; the music would swell, and life would be perfect.
Most of my relationships (romantic, friendships and family) were nothing like this. Yes, there were occasional ‘soulmate’ moments. Mostly though, I found myself engaged with another who is perfectly imperfect as myself.
Recently I watched the movie, What Dreams May Come, with my life partner. A touching and dramatic tale of two soulmates who never give up on each other, even in the depths of hell. At the end, I asked him, ‘Do you believe in soulmates?’
I held a longing in my heart and my eyes as I waited for his answer. His response surprised me.
