While anyone is entitled to their opinion, I am not a fan of blanket statements about groups of people - like all 'such and such' are like this. As an empath and someone who has worked professionally with thousands of empaths for over a decade, I can definitively state that each person is unique, just like everyone else. 99.9% of all empaths I've met do not view themselves as special, in fact it can take years for energetically sensitive people (because we sense much more than just emotions), to honor their gifts (everyone has gifts).

Is there a tendency for co-dependency? Absolutely. Is there a stage where an overwhelmed empath with porous boundaries will isolate? Almost certainly. Do they step into their power once they recognize all of this? You betcha.

Empaths are not weak or fragile. I am proud to be such, to be surrounded by amazing sensitive people and wouldn't choose any other kind of life.

This article struck me as the stage where the author explores self-loathing through outward projection, hopefully for just a short period of time before reclaiming his power. But, to each their own...
