You could approach it from this outlook, and a lot of old school people do, with the message, if I had to work my ass off, you should too! Which quite frankly comes across as bitter.

Don’t you want life to be better and easier for you those who comes next? Why would our society keep working on innovations, just to encourage struggle culture?

All the research shows people are happier when they have more leisure time with their families and friends plus time to pursue new hobbies or take classes for personal enrichment.

This is not laziness, it’s a different set of priorities, as the author so aptly stated.

Just because you were sold and bought into the idea of Protestant workaholicism, doesn’t mean it’s the right thing for our society at large…
